Anniversary Gift Guide

by Cynthia Marcano

Is your anniversary here again? Don’t know what to buy your better half? Maybe the anniversary gift guide can help. The guide has been updated with a few gift ideas to make your shopping a little easier.

1st Anniversary- The first anniversary is the year of paper. Paper gifts are not as boring as one may think. It can be as simple as a handwritten poem or as lavish as an airline ticket.

2nd Anniversary – The second anniversary is cotton. A good cotton gift is clothing. Personalizing it makes it even more special. Nowadays you can personalize just about anything.

3rd Anniversary- The third anniversary gift is leather. Wallets and purses are nice leather gifts. There are also tins of leather items that can be personalized as well. (Ex. Personalized leather bracelets or briefcases)

4th Anniversary- Linen is the fourth anniversary gift. Linen gifts include table linens and vacation linen shirts also known as Guayaberas.

5th Anniversary- Wood is fifth anniversary gift. Gift ideas range from gift baskets to furniture.

6th Anniversary- The sixth anniversary is iron. Iron gifts include candleholders and picture frames.

7th Anniversary- Depending on who you ask, the seven year anniversary is either copper or wool. Cooper gifts include vases and bowls. Wool gifts include sweaters and scarves.

8th Anniversary- Bronze is the eighth anniversary gift. Bronze gifts can be anything from a candleholder or vase to a trinket or memorable keepsake being bronzed.

9th Anniversary- Pottery is the ninth anniversary. Sculptures, vases and bowls are the most common of these gifts. A great gift idea would be to enjoy a pottery class together.

10th Anniversary- Tin or Aluminum is the gifts for 10 years of bliss. Jewelry boxes or tin gift containers filled with goodies make great tin/aluminum gifts. Gift basket containers would be a great to incorporate tin or aluminum.

11th Anniversary- Eleven years of marriage equal a gift of Steel. Gifts can be anything from a stainless steel watch or pendant to stainless kitchen appliances.

12th Anniversary- Silk is the twelfth anniversary gift. Silk pajamas and sheets are a wonderful gift. Robes and clothing are also great.

13th Anniversary- The thirteenth anniversary is that of Lace. This anniversary gift’s element is more for the ladies. Lace table linens, hankies and nightgowns are wonderful gifts of lace.

14th Anniversary- Ivory is the gift fourteen years of marriage. Imagination is important for this gift giving year. An ivory broche is a worldly gift for your wife and if your husband is open to anything, try an ivory elephant tusk. Not likely huh? How about Ivory soap? At least I tried.

15th Anniversary – Fifteen years of wedded bliss earn you Crystal. Swarovski Crystals set in a pendant, watch or other piece of jewelry is a nice idea. For the simple folk, a crystal vase or personalized champagne flutes add that touch of romance.

20th Anniversary- Twentieth Anniversary is the gift of China. That is pretty self explanatory.

25th Anniversary- Twenty five years of marriage is also known as The Silver Anniversary. Silver jewelry or nice jewelry boxes are always safe bets.

30th Anniversary- Pearl is the gift of a thirty year anniversary. Pearls can be given as a necklace or placed in a ring.

35th Anniversary- Coral or Jade is the gifts for this anniversary. You can find coral gifts such as vases, sculptures, trays or games made or coral. Jade gifts are usually jewelry like bracelets and earrings.

40th Anniversary- The fortieth year anniversary gift is Ruby. Like many of the gifts, jewelry is a good gift.

45th Anniversary- Sapphires represent forty years of marriage. Jewelry

50th Anniversary- The Golden Anniversary is among one of the well known. Gold gifts can be anything from jewelry to golden vases, cups, frames, figurines and other trinkets.

55th Anniversary- Emeralds are the gifts of this year. Jewelry is a common gift.

60th Anniversary- Sixty years of being married most certainly deserves Diamonds. What could be better than diamond jewelry?

65th Anniversary- Blue Sapphires are the gifts of this year. Once again jewelry is appropriate…it’s deserved!

70th Anniversary- Platinum gifts are representative of seventy platinum years of marriage. Platinum gifts include jewelry, music boxes, figurines and gift boxes.

75th Anniversary- Once again Diamond is the gift of choice. After seventy five years of marriage, it is most certainly deserving. Best gift…Jewelry!

80th Anniversary- Oak represents eighty years of marriage. If you have been married eighty years than you marriage is stronger than oak. Nevertheless a fantastic oak gift is Oak Home! If you can’t afford it, there are tons of handmade oak gifts such as furniture, wall shelves and many more.

How To Give A Great Gift Without Breaking The Bank

by Prachy Kansara

In a previous article I had said something about gifting for the general gifting etiquette with a lot of help from team of www.best50thbirthdaygift.com. Here will put some light on what one should do in order to have a more specific occasion such as a Holiday Season gifting. Although I should mention that I have taken portions of ideas from a book and I find it worth sharing. Here is how it goes.

Let’s start with the big E …Expenditure

I started with an outline budget of what I wanted to spend on this occasion.

After I finished examining my expenditures for last year and created my new budget, I found a few less relevant categories that needed cutting out for this coming year. I especially found a great opportunity to save money in our “gift” category. See More

First, I made the decision that my theme for this year would be gift giving from my heart. Last year as I had Christmas packages spread around the living room and was trying to sort them for mailing, I found myself thinking like Scrooge. I decided that wasn’t really a very good way to enter into the Holiday Season!

This year I started in January to get presents ready early. At this point, I might just be done by June. This also includes about 25 birthday gifts that I need to give throughout the year. It’s not difficult to get into a bad mood when you are the one taking on the responsibility for buying, making, wrapping, and mailing so many gifts.

Trying to do this within a limited budget is all the more challenging. If money were no object, I could just buy 50 gift cards from the local Wal-Mart for birthdays and Christmas and be done with it. But I feel my idea to give from my heart will accomplish more in the long run, because I will feel more caring about the gifts I am giving and hopefully the recipients will really enjoy them.

The following are ideas I have incorporated this year into my gift giving to help keep aligned with my theme and my smaller budget:

1. First, create both a birthday list and a Christmas list with an estimated budget for each person.

2. Always keep a gift cabinet, and I highly recommend that you start one if you haven’t done this before. I buy gifts throughout the year that I find that I think will fit for a particular person or might be a possibility for several people

3. Spend an afternoon shopping in your own gift cabinet! pull out gifts that you had already selected with certain individuals in mind and marked those as purchased on my gift list. That really saves a lot of time and money! I am able to find many gifts for grandchildren this way since I’ve always picked up gifts in new or like new condition.

4. I found some items in the supply cabinet that I decided weren’t a good fit for anyone on my list. I sold these on Ebay and added that money to our household gift budget.

5. I keep an ongoing list of gift ideas that I can create and make myself. I glean many of these ideas from reading other frugal sites on the web. I love to create, and I enjoy certain hobbies such as beading, cross-stitching and crocheting. I selected several ideas from this list of gifts I can make this year.

6. I have found many items that I can “regift” that will have special significance to the recipients. Some of these are family heirlooms, jewelry I no longer wear, or other items we have that carry a special meaning to one of our children or grandchildren.

7. I love giving gifts to younger children because they haven’t had a chance to build up expectations, or assign a monetary value to gifts! I give games with personalized themes. My husband and I read the books onto tape and add personal little stories and antidotes. I’ve made “cookie crayons” in muffin liners with scraps of crayons – these really are pretty with the mixture of colors. I look at museum gift shops at the different National Monuments in our state and select coloring books with themes from our state. The museum gift shops offer other great gifts for children that are personalized because they represent the place where we live and are quite cost effective.

8. If you find a gift that I think will be a good fit for more than one of our children or grandchildren, then make several of those in one year. For example, this year I’ve made fleece scarves with appliqués, and a really neat book bag made from a pair of old jeans. The pockets from the jeans make a great addition on the outside of the book bag for pencils, erasers, markers, etc. These are ideas I can duplicate for other grandchildren – since we have twelve, it makes it easier not to have to reinvent the wheel every time.

9. I have already wrapped both birthday and Christmas gifts that are ready to give and have sorted them in bags or boxes by family. I save on postage by sending gifts in groups ahead of time – my children will put them away until the appropriate holiday. If we are planning to visit them during the year, I take the gifts with me on our trip and save even more on postage.

Thus solving the gift for the holiday seasons expense dilemma.

Pearls are a Gift She’ll Remember Forever

by Tracy Togliatti

The pearl is known as the queen of gems and the gem of queens, what could be more perfect for that special woman in your life? This article is about finding the pearl gift that will melt her heart!

Pearls are the oldest known of all gems, and for centuries it was considered the most valuable. They were thought to be a symbol of the moon and to have magical powers. The Latin word for pearl literally means “unique”, as no two pearls are exactly the same.

Another great thing about pearls is that they will never go out of fashion and can last for generations with the proper care. They speak of purity and are thought to offer the power of love, money, protection, and luck. They are also thought of to cement love relationships and promote marital bliss. You truly can’t go wrong choosing a gift of pearls!

You can buy pearls in any assortment of jewelry pieces from necklaces, bracelets, earrings and other body piercings. The best way to find the perfect pearl gift for a woman is to pay attention to her style and what her favorite colors are. Pearls come in an assortment of colors from white, pink, peach, to black, so you can find something that will compliment the colors in her wardrobe.

After you’ve decided on what color and what jewelry piece you’ll be getting for her, then decide if the pearl gift will be used for formal occasions, or if she would like it for more casual attire. Dressier occasions call for dressier pearls, such as a string of pearls, or pearl string bracelet. Many pearl jewelry pieces come with other gemstones as well. A single pearl with a diamond accent is a classic piece she will treasure.

More casual pearls could be pearls mixed with semi-precious stones or a pearl pendent on a leather necklace. There is truly a huge assortment and finding the unique pearl jewelry piece for your unique woman should not be hard to find. Giving her matching earrings, bracelet, and necklace set would be the perfect touch no matter what the occasion!

Here are some types of pearls to look for:

· Natural Pearls - Made without human interference, these are rare and valuable.

· Cultured Pearls Made when a foreign substance is intentionally inserted into a living oyster.

· Baroque Pearls - Pearls that have irregular shapes.

· Biwa Pearls - An irregular shaped pearl which forms in the freshwater of Lake Biwa, Japan.

· Blister Pearls - Pearls that grow attached to the inside of the shell.

· Black Pearls - Gray to black pearls, also know as Tahitian pearls.

· Freshwater Pearls - Pearls which form in fresh water mollusks and resemble puffed rice.

· Mabe Pearls - Cultivated blister pearls.

· Seed Pearls - Small, tiny pearls used in Victorian jewelry and sewn on clothing, especially wedding dresses.

· Keshi Pearls – Pearls without a nucleus, these are becoming rare today and are very beautiful.

For a romantic idea, let her know in advance that you will be taking her out for the evening, or day depending on what event you plan. Give her the pearls before you leave for your event making it clear that when you get back home, you want to see how she looks in nothing but her pearls! Then make sure and let her know how beautiful she makes the pearls look!

Pearls are also appropriate gifts for your mother, sister, or daughter. Let them know how pure your love is for them and how they have been a Pearl in your life! If you would like additional suggestions about gift giving, or helping make the women in your life happy, please email me anytime you like.

The Best Gift You Can Give Your Fishing Fanatic

by Rita R. Powers

The best gift you can give your fishing fanatic is a fishing trip with the least amount of hassles and stress. We fishing fanatics know all too well how much time and effort goes into planning one of these adventures on our own. Expert fishing business owners and guides have several types of packages they can offer. Why not purchase a packaged fishing trip that suits your needs? I have spent many hours arranging a fishing trip. Aside from taking my personal items and arranging my own transportation, I go with packages. Everything that I want has been ordered or arranged and when I arrive to cast that line, I don’t have to think about a thing. I found http://www.alskafishon.com to be a great place to research packages. Let the experts handle and deal with all the arrangements, I just want to fish.

Packages are designed to provide the fishing fanatic with every person’s situation and budget taken into consideration. There are many packages geared towards what you can afford. Packages often can include any or all of the accommodations and amenities you want. They are versatile and flexible to suit any fisherman’s idea of the "best gift I ever got." Here are some examples of what packages may or may not offer.

Fishing packages can be for a half-day or full day. They can be tailored for fishing trips lasting up to seven days and more. Some may include lodging and meals. If you want to join your fishing fanatic, many packages are available for double occupancy. If you’re a single fisherman and want to go it alone, accommodations can be arranged for singles as well. Some packages won’t include charter fees or taxes. Some don’t include your transportation to the state or locale you are going to fish in so be sure to read everything that is offered in the package you choose.

Reputable people in the business of providing the ultimate fishing vacations or packages will offer this advice. A package is a better deal because you don’t have to provide all the stuff. Now, unless you just have to cart that favorite fishing pole onto the plane, fishing guide businesses will have all the fishing equipment you will need. A guide will also know the "fishing holes". Traveling to an unknown locale to go fishing can end up with you not having caught anything. Your package and guide will be able to get you to the right fishing spots at the best times. Most of all, professional fishing business owners will always advise that you research the company you are going to purchase a package from. Know whom you are dealing with. Check their references and ask if they have insurance. Once you have found the package and the company you want, get ready for your fishing fanatic to say, "That was the best fishing I’ve ever done." Packages are a great gift because you want the fanatic to have the time of their lives but a time that had little stress. Isn’t that what fishing is all about?

This article was written by Rita R. Powers sponsored by http://www.alaskafishon.com/. Alaska Fish On is a licensed and registered Kenai river fishing guide service providing affordable packages for the novice or experienced fisher. Let the experts at Alaska Fish On tailor a fishing package suited to your needs for your next vacation. Reproductions of this article are encouraged but must include a link pointing back to http://www.alaskafishon.com/.

Appropriate Gifts For A Baby Shower

by Michelle Hawkins

Celebrating the upcoming birth of a child by arranging a baby shower has become more and more popular. What better way to celebrate the arrival of a new little person to the world, than to have a nice little party for close friends and family.

It is customary to bring the new parents and their baby some gifts on this joyous occasion, and in this article we will look at some appropriate the gifts that will prove truly useful.

When buying gifts for a child, toys are usually the first thing that springs to mind. However, there are also many other items that are suitable. Also, remember that baby shower gifts need not only be for the baby. It is equally thoughtful to get something for the parents to be.

Buying toys

If you have decided to purchase a toy, or at least something playful, consider buying something that is educational and will boost the baby's brainpower. There is a rich selection of classic baby books and educational cd's and DVD's to choose from. For example, the Brainy Baby and Baby Einstein DVDs are highly recommended. And a visit to the local bookstore will surely provide you with many great alternatives. You may even find that some of the favourites from your own childhood are still available in reprinted edition, as well as books from many new authors. Choose books with many bright and bold pictures in them.

As for actual toys, there are many entertaining alternatives available. If you find something you like, you can certainly buy a toy for older babies that the baby can use when it grows a bit older. But just to be safe, stick to the toys for kids aged 3 and under.

Practical gifts for baby and parents

Some people are under the impression that a gift can't be something "useful and boring". However, while something like disposable diapers may not be the most fancy gift to give for a baby shower, it would definitely be a most thoughtful gift and most appreciated.

Diapers are expensive and babies will use them up very quickly. The new parents will appreciate them. Even those parents who opt to use cloth diapers may also find disposable diapers useful when travelling. A tip when buying diapers, pick the larger size ones instead of newborn diapers. After all, babies nowadays grow very fast and the newborn-size diapers may not be useful for very long. And while you are at it, why not thrown in some baby wipes as well.

Since hygiene is so important for little infants, a nice selection of baby bathroom essentials would also make a very thoughtful present. This does not have to be "boring" at all, as there are many things like cute baby puppets that may also double as scrubbing tools, or bubble bath with a soothing lavender scent will make bath time an entertaining experience for both the baby and parents. A hooded towel and some sweet smelling baby cologne or lotion is also suitable bath time goodies gifts.

Other usable items are pacifiers and bottles. However you should be aware that some babies prefer to use only a particular brand or shape for these items. If the parents-to-be have specified in the baby registry a brand or shape of bottles, nipples, and pacifiers, these items may be a safe choice for a baby shower gift. Otherwise, just steer clear from these baby items.

Finally, clothes is something that every baby needs - and will grow out of quickly. For this reason it may be a good idea to choose somewhat larger sizes than newborn sizes. Knowing the season the baby will arrive, and if at all possible the baby's gender, is also most helpful in choosing the clothes that will be just right.

If you, in spite of all these ideas and suggestions, can't come up with anything that you think would make an appropriate gift, a last resort could be to simply give the new parents a gift certificate for buying what they want themselves.

Overall, it is also a good idea to speak with some of the other guests of the baby shower well before the event takes place. You wouldn't want EVERYONE to bring disposable diapers, would you?

Baby Gifts – A Guide for Men

by Robin Darch

Buying gifts for babies can be a difficult chore for men, especially for single men. After all, how can a man who has no children know what the best Baby Gifts are? With this article I hope to help men take some of the mystery out of shopping for Baby Gifts. Baby shower gifts can be simple or elegant, traditional or creative and personal. Select with creativity and care. The possibilities are endless.

Check the registry. A lot of moms are doing the same thing for baby showers they have always done for wedding showers and that is to create a registry, a list of items she knows she will need. By picking something that is on the list you avoid having to make a choice at all. For a man, that’s always the best choice!.

Use your experience as a parent (or ask someone you know who has kids): If you are a parent, think back to what you couldn’t have done without. If you aren’t a parent, then talk to one of your friends who is. They can help you choose the right Baby Gift.

Ask the new parents to give you a list of things they might need. If you are good friends with them, they won’t mind you asking and might even appreciate the fact that you want to buy them a Baby Gift they can really use. Look around and imagine what they might need, like car seats, front carriers, etc.

Go in with a group to purchase baby furniture or strollers. This is perfect for men who don’t have a clue! Ask some of your friends what they are getting as a Baby Gift and ask them if they want to split the cost of a more expensive Baby Gift.

Monogram an Item. A Picture Frame, A Bib, Baby Silverware, anything like that, can be a great baby Gift that is both useful and cherished.

Baby Gift Baskets. Shop around for little things you know the parents and the newborn will need. Baby Powder, Baby Lotion, Baby Shampoo, Diapers, and other small items in a Nice Baby Gift Basket is always a safe choice.

Personalized baby Song CD. Now this is a unique gift! Go to http://www.giftsfortots.ca/personalcds.asp and you can order a CD made with songs that actually use the baby’s name in the songs!

Buy child-sized jewelry: Bracelets, Necklaces, ID bracelets, Tie Bars, and Cufflinks, make a great Baby Gift made for babies make great Baby Gifts.

Choose clothes in size 3 months or larger. Anticipating that the baby will soon grow out of the clothes usually bought at a baby shower can please the parents immensely . Include gift receipts if possible so they can be exchanged if you suspect you have awful taste or if they just need them in a different size.

Start the baby's library with a book. Choose one of the classics for children, Winnie the Pooh and other books are a great Baby Gift. Put a nameplate in the front cover for a personal touch.

Give the baby a savings bond. Start their college fund with a savings bond and the gift is truly for the baby. The parents will appreciate the gift and it will encourage them to add to it as years go by. Get them started early!

We hope the Tips on buying a Baby Gift are helpful to you. There are more tips for buying Baby Gifts at http://babyport.info/30789.php Take time to choose the right gift and it will be very much appreciated.

Religious Jewelry: A Memorable Gift

by Chris Robertson

The wearing of religious jewelry is steeped in many faiths. Christian jewelry often takes the form of a cross that is worn by the Christian as an outward symbol of his or her inner faith in Jesus.

In the Catholic tradition, religious jewelry is often given as a Baptism gift, a Communion gift, or a Confirmation gift. Tiny rosaries or small bracelets are often given to babies upon their Baptism, while necklaces and rosaries are often chosen as gifts for First Holy Communion. For Catholic children, however, it is Confirmation - and the Saint medals they receive - that is often the most meaningful.

In preparation for their Confirmation, Roman Catholic pre-teens choose a Saint's name to take as their own. It's not uncommon for them to pour over books about Saints and to query relatives about their own Confirmation names. Often, relatives will bring out the Saints medals they received as gifts upon their Confirmations and share vivid recollections about the significance of their Patron Saints.

Presenting Saint medals to Roman Catholics experiencing their Confirmation is common, as is the gifting of other religious jewelry. Christian jewelry, such as gold or silver crucifixes, Holy Spirit pins, and rosaries are also given. But it is often saint medals that mean the most to the girl or boy being Confirmed.

Some of the most popular Patron Saints are:

St. Jude - The Patron Saint of desperate cases, St. Jude was one of the 12 Apostles. His feast day is October 28.

St. Matthew - One of the 12 Apostles, St. Matthew is the Patron Saint of bankers, possibly because he was a tax collector prior to his conversion. His feast day is September 21.

St. Philomena - Although much of her life remains a mystery, it is believed that St. Philomena was martyred at the age of 14. This is why she is the Patron Saint of infants and children.

St. Thomas Aquinas - Born in 1226, St. Thomas Aquinas is the Patron Saint of students and of universities. His feast day is January 28.

St. Agnes - The Patron Saint of girls, more specifically of the Children of Mary, St. Agnes was martyred at the age of 13. Her feast day is January 21.

Religious jewelry is not only an adornment - it is a manifestation of faith. When given as a gift, it is an acknowledgement of the spirituality of the recipient. When worn, it is a reminder of one's faith in God and a recognition of one's humble origins.

The Frugal Gift Box

by Cyndi Roberts

Gift-giving occasions occur with almost mind-boggling frequency-- especially when you have children at home. Friends' birthday parties, parents' birthdays, bby and wedding showers, Mother's Day, Father's Day--the costs can become quite a burden. However, a bit of organization and creativity can make these times a bit less painful financially.

Some people find it very helpful to keep a calendar located in a convenient place and mark all the year's special days on it. Then at the beginning of any given month, you can see at a glance the gifts you are going to require.

The key is to be aware of what gifts you'll be needing and to get prepared, instead of waiting till the last minute and running out and buying whatever you can find regardless of price.

Once you can remember "when" to give gifts, the next problem that comes up is "what" to give. That's where the Frugal Gift Box can help. Designate a spot, whether it's a shelf in the closet, a box, or storage bin in the garage, to keep all your gifts together.

Throughout the year, watch the clearance sales, garage and yard sales, thrift stores, etc. for items suitable for gift-giving. One of my best buys in the past was a brand-new, still in the package, set of American Girl books bought at a garage sale for pennies. I saved it till our granddaughter got old enough and now she's about to get it for her 8th birthday next month.

When my children were young and going to birthday parties every week, it seemed, I kept a watch on clearance sales and when I saw something that was age and gender appropriate for one of mine, I figured their friends would like it, too, so into the Gift Box it would go. I tried to keep at least one gift for each child on hand at all times.

It's a good idea to keep a list of the Christmas and birthday gifts you will need for your immediate family. I keep a list in my purse and it is always with me. That way when I buy a gift I can add it immediately. It's also good for reminding me of what I already have on hand.

Last, here's a gift idea sent by a newsletter subscriber, Gina. It's a great craft project...make several and keep them in your gift box ready for mom's or sister's birthday!

HERBAL COZY

Basically this is an pillow filled with rice and herbs, you put it in the microwave for 2 minutes or less for warmth and heat, or throw it in the freezer to ease injuries, or for headaches.

You can use scrap fabric... use large scraps for larger herbal cozies (for the back, legs, etc.) and smaller scrap pieces for a small one that you can use on the forehead or on the eyes, to sooth eyestrain and headache.

I sew 'channels' in mine, by sewing a line every two inches, and feeling each pocket - so everything stays in the right place, but that's optional. They can be as simple as a 'pillow' type.

Fill them with rice and herbs. You only need 1 part herb to 5-10 part rice, depending on how strong you want them.

Herbs you can fill them with:

mint - clears sinuses, good for headache
chamomile - eases tension, relaxes
cloves - muscle pain
rosemary - relaxes, muscle pain
lavender - ease tension, relaxes, soothes, good for headache
ginger - soothing, good for muscle pain
cedar shavings - eases aching muscles

Herbs are VERY cheap bought in bulk, or you can use your dried, homegrown, or even cut open teabags.

Jewelry As An Anniversary Gift, What You Need To Know

by Sam Serio

Jewelry for anniversaries can be the perfect gift. It is widely known that there are lists of birthstones and zodiacal or talismanic stones, there are lists of stones for days of the week, hours of the day, for states of the union, for each of the seasons, and for anniversaries as well!

Anniversary Stones:

1. Gold Jewelry
2. Garnet
3. Pearl
4. Blue Topaz
5. Sapphire
6. Amethyst
7. Onyx
8. Tourmaline
9. Lapis Lazuli
10. Diamond Jewelry
11. Turquoise
12. Jade
13. Citrine
14. Opal
15. Ruby
20. Emerald
25. Silver Jubilee
30. Pearl Jubilee
35. Emerald
40. Ruby
45. Sapphire
50. Golden Jubilee
55. Alexandrite
60. Diamond Jubilee

Here Are Some Tips For Buying Jewelry As An Anniversary Gift Without Being Ripped Off:

1. There’s a big difference between 14 karat gold and gold-plated jewelry. Fourteen karat (14K) jewelry contains 14 parts of gold, mixed in throughout with 10 parts of base metal. Gold-plated describes jewelry with a layer of at least 10K gold bonded to a base metal. Gold plating eventually wears away, depending on how often the item is worn and how thick the plating is.

2. If you’re buying a watch, determine whether you want one that runs on a battery or one that must be wound daily. Ask if a warranty or guarantee is included, how long it lasts, and what parts and repair problems it covers. Also ask how and where you can get the watch serviced and repaired.

3. Know the difference between laboratory-created gemstones and naturally mined stones. Stones created in the lab are visually identical to stones mined from the earth. The big difference is in the cost: laboratory-created stones are less expensive then naturally mined stones. But because they look much like stones mined from the earth, they must be identified as lab-created. If you want a naturally mined stone, ask if it has been treated. Gemstone treatments– such as heating, dyeing or bleaching– can improve a stone’s appearance or durability. Some treatments are permanent; some may create special care requirements. Treatments also may affect the stone’s value.

4. Ask whether pearls are imitation or real. Real pearls are made by oysters or other mollusks; imitation pearls are man-made. Cultured pearls are made by mollusks with human intervention; and irritant introduced into their shells causes a pearl to grow. Real pearls that are not cultured are fairly rare and expensive. The cost depends on the size, usually stated in millimeters, and the coating or “nacre” on a real pearl, which gives it its iridescence.

5. When you’re buying a diamond, consider four criteria: cut, color, clarity and weight, usually stated as carats. Each factor affects the price. Color is sometimes “graded” on a scale. However, scales are not uniform: a “D” may be the best color for one scale, but not for another. Make sure you know how a particular scale and grade represent the color of the diamond you’re considering. A diamond can be described as “flawless” only if it has no visible surface cracks or other imperfections when viewed under 10-power magnification by a skilled diamond grader.

Executive Gift, Gourmet Smoked Alaskan Salmon

by James Zeller

A smoked salmon gift box from Alaska offers sincere thoughtfulness and exceptional gourmet taste in the same gift. Wild caught Alaska Sockeye Salmon are know world wide for flavor and are considered the very best smoked fish product on the market. For a gift of distinction, it makes an ideal executive gift.

"Appreciation is a wonderful thing: It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well” – Voltair

A sockeye salmon fights the net as it is drawn from the ice cold Alaskan waters. The fisherman lands an exceptional fish and spends an enormous amount of money shipping the smoked fillets home, but it’s worth it because he knows there is nothing like the taste of smoked Alaskan sockeye salmon.

A fishing trip to Alaska might be out of the question as a gift for the executives in your firm, but you can still show genuine appreciation by giving the gift of a smoked salmon gift box.

The purchase of this unique corporate gift can help your team leaders know that they are appreciated. It may seem like such a simple thing, but the executive teams in many corporations receive less recognition than their contributions deserve. It’s safe to say that these team members are, in fact, highly valued, yet there is just so much involved in operating a successful business that one forgets the power of tangible expressions of gratitude.

Imagine the boost in morale when a cherry finish wood gift box housing eight ounces of the finest tasting smoked Copper River sockeye salmon, is presented as a gift of goodwill, acknowledging the contributions of your management team.

Part of successful management is making sure the executives understand the core mission of the company and evidence the motivation to help the company reach difficult goals. A timely executive gift may help you achieve many separate, but connected goals. With such a unique corporate gift your staff understands much valued appreciation while finding motivation to continue in tough circumstances by knowing that they are highly esteemed through their work ethic and unique skills.

Smoked salmon is also a useful gift in courting, maintaining and thanking existing clientele. Your customers may have a choice when it comes to using your services or goods. They can always find a new firm to work with. In times of limited brand loyalty, a well timed gift to a valued customer may be the key that keeps them on the books. A smoked salmon gift box says a lot about the goodwill and appreciation your firm has for valued customers.

These highly prized and great tasting smoked salmon gift boxes are accessible online and can be ordered and delivered when convenient for you. A few simple clicks of the mouse and you’ve avoided traffic and parking issues while taking care of an often neglected part of good management and customer relations.

If your leadership team and customer base are used to pens and calendars, the gift of smoked salmon is sure to leave them talking. This approach will provide a well remembered taste tempting memento of the value you have attached to their contributions to the success of your company.

The gift of smoked salmon also shows your clients and staff that you care about their health as well. Smoked salmon is high in omega-three fatty acids and is low in caloric content. The tremendous taste of smoked salmon is linked with cholesterol reduction and heart health. It’s not often a gift this decadent also has such well established health benefits.

James Zeller writes for gift related websites and blogs. Here is a selection of http://www.cruets.com/Scripts/prodList.asp?idCategory=152 that he found, and a creative collection of http://www.cruets.com.
