Need To Buy A Baby Gift Find Out How

by Melissa Fishman

You do not have to go through the trouble of walking from one baby gift shop to another just to find that perfect baby gift. A wide variety of baby gifts is within your reach from the comfort of your own home. A great way to get a baby gift is to have a child to choose the gift. Baby Gifts are a lot of fun to not only give but to receive when you are expecting. Personalized baby gifts are unique keepsakes to commemorate your baby's birth. All he or she really needs at that point are food, love, warmth, and shelter. Remember, cool baby gifts are not just for the baby.

Friends, family and colleagues usually throw baby showers; this is to honor the couple that is expecting a new born baby into the world. The purpose of the shower is to bestow gifts upon the parents-to-be so that is generally items that are necessary for babies. It doesn't matter if your baby shower is in an elegant restaurant, or a banquet hall or a warm cozy home.

When having a new baby come into the world the parents will need the obvious supplies, diapers, soap, lotions, powder and many other products will be a necessity for the baby. There are so many different gifts to purchase that most gifts will fit any type of budget. You can purchase inexpensive items and have them personalized and this will make an exceptionally great gift. Of course the greatest gift you could give is the baby furniture, this will help the parents out with a tight budget. Personalizing these items can be arranged. Clothing and related items are always welcome gifts, and if these are personalized, are valued that much more.

Think outside the box quite literally. Pretty baskets are great to hold an assortment of gifts and many craft stores put them on clearance quite often. The gift that you give is for the mother and the baby, but the baby does not know what it wants or needs so you must make the gift suitable for both. Upscale baby gift baskets are a great choice for the uncertain shower attendee. No matter what theme you choose baby gift baskets will make a lasting impression. Everyone loves chocolate so including chocolates in the basket is a great gift. Baskets are usually divided into girl themes, and boy themes. Gift baskets can be used for many different occasions, births, baptisms, baby showers and first birthdays and even many different holidays.

New parents can never have enough. Choose one of these baby shower gifts and you will have given a gift that will become a favorite. These baby shower gifts are choices that parents will love. When getting gifts for parents make sure you get something they can use now and not have to store away, they will have enough to stock up on. You can include many different items in a gift basket; you could include chocolate, cookies, baby food and candies to name a few. As everyone knows new parents love to take pictures so adding picture frames and photo albums is a great idea and is something that can be used.

Thank You Gifts Strategy To Make Them Go Ga-Ga

by Brian F Connors

Most of us are indebted to people who have lent us their time, wisdom or financial assets for the betterment of our situation in this thing called life. Parents or other relatives as well as friends have come to our aid when called upon. Some have even responded solely from the prompting of their own gracious hearts. Total strangers may also have stepped in during emergency situations at the risk of their own safety for the preservation of our well-being.

What could be an appropriate response to counter those acts of generosity? How about thank you gifts? These would be offerings that would express gratitude in the most heart-felt way. They would be physical testimonials of your sincere desire to somehow pay back at least a tad portion of the unselfishness that was shown to you. That's a good start to begin a strategy of recompense but where does one go from there?

The beneficiary of the act of kindness must first look deep within the provider of such and determine what makes the latter get excited in life. What is the passion, hobby or way of living that the altruistic one holds dear? Is there a theme that burns within their very bosom that they fervently embrace that you know of? One must look and aim squarely at the heart of the selfless one and take action. How about some suggestions to consider?

The gift of books having the right topic or preferred author could be a perfect hit. The same could apply with music selections on CD or favorite movies on DVD as well. Tickets to the opera, concerts or plays that your helper would enjoy could also satisfy your goal to bless the helping hand that eased your burden in the past.

How about food? Gourmet chocolate, Italian food, coffee, etc may be the ideal thank you gifts to bestow. Relaxing luxury bath spa products or related gift certificates may also be the ticket to show your admiration towards the one who showed you a saintly concern. Hobbies enjoyed such as golf, gardening, movies, auto racing, casino gambling or whatever could be taken into consideration to get a gift that will strike a bulls-eye. Take the time to study the inner self of the target of your intent. Come to a conclusion as to which thank you gifts would best befit the message that you wish to convey and choose the most powerful one.

Cost should not be a big consideration. Why? It's important to know that an inexpensive gem specific to the goodly one's personality is better than a pricey package that will only end up wasting storage space. Maybe you can relate to that situation?

Just take the necessary steps of both pondering over the essential personality of the one you wish to honor and choosing the right gift that suits your conclusion. You will be much more likely to end up doing just the right thing in just the right way.

Brian F Connors is the owner of A Gift Basket Paradise and wishes to share his insight regarding the giving of gifts expressing the theme of gratitude and thanks. He invites everyone to view his ideas for such at http://www.agiftbasketparadise.com/thankyou.html

Wedding Favor Gift Ideas And Advice

by Mike Kabel

Wedding Favor Gift Ideas and Advice - If you’re looking for an inexpensive gift idea, consider giving personalized mints tins. They’re simple, inexpensive, and a great way to make a lasting impression on guests.

Personalized Mint Tins: A Small Favor
It’s an open secret among wedding planners and anyone else that’s planned a wedding event that finding an elegant wedding favor to give guests without breaking the bank is sometimes quite a hassle. Weddings aren’t cheap, and cheap wedding favors are more or less hard to come by, so finding the perfect wedding reception favor without breaking the bank is a challenge for anyone planning any gift of feast at all for their wedding. For the wedding couple on a budget, or for the couple who’s looking to spend their money or other things but that doesn’t want to leave their guests out in the cold by way of gifts, may we suggest the personalized mint tins?

First and foremost, mint tins are straightforward and elegant in their simplicity. They’re small – usually about the size of the average person’s palm – and they’re durable, typically made of stainless steel or nickel. If you’re looking for a unique and inexpensive wedding favors idea, these are certainly one of the most direct options available on the market.

Secondly, personalized wedding favor mint tins are just that… personalized. It’s possible to give a small favor or trinket anywhere, at a birthday party or social function, but mint tins offer the opportunity to infuse the reception dinner with something unique and as individual as the guests themselves, to say nothing of the lucky couple. Usually accented by a design enhancing the wedding’s theme or other motif the bride and groom want to emphasize, they become both charming and useful, while remaining economical. Which brings us to our last mint tin virtue, so to speak… Personalized mint tins are pretty cheap wedding favors, as wedding favors go. If you’re planning a large-scale event, something that’s going to involve feeding and entertaining possibly hundreds of people, and you’re looking for elegant wedding favors that nonetheless make an impression on any discerning mind, having a simple box of after-dinner mints available for after the wedding reception dinner is a good way to get your guests to notice. You might also consider giving them as wedding favors to enhance or augment another simple wedding favor, for example a place card holder or souvenir glass. They’re lovely touches, sort of the bon mot on the wedding feast.

We should also mention that the mints presented inside the tins are both kosher and parve, which means they’re safe for people of all religious faiths. That’s a delicate issue perhaps some people don’t foresee when planning their wedding reception, especially at times when relative strangers are brought or invited to the wedding out of a sense of politeness or formality. But it never hurts to be safe, and the thought will echo your graces many more times than the omission will speak ill of you.

Baby Shower Gift Giving Made Easy

by Sarah Garr

Gift giving is such a personal thing. It involves everything from individual style to affordability. Most people want to give baby gifts that are usable and practical to the new parents. Even though practicality is a considerable force in purchasing baby gifts, the giver doesn't have to stick with the usual mundane gift ideas. Uniqueness can be incorporated into the baby gift.

The baby shower hostess should most definitely provide gift suggestions based on the needs and wants of the new mother. Make sure you distribute this information in a uniform manner, so that none of the invited guests are left out of the loop. This especially holds true for the guests who live at a great distance and may not be able to be present to the baby shower. If they are aware of the specific needs of the mother, the can utilize online shopping and have the gift shipped to the party or to the mother, without fretting whether or not the mother will be able to make an exchange without having to travel to the post office. Speaking from personal experience, most women who are at the ending stretch of their pregnancy do not want to make any undo errand runs.

People are often tempted to purchase baby clothes for a baby shower. This is a bit complicated. Keep in mind that babies grow rapidly. Sizing is the key. If you are brave and want to buy clothing, keep in mind the growth of the child and what season it will be when the size you buy is appropriate. A sundress and sunbonnet are useless in January if the new mom lives in a climate with seasonal changes. Make sure you know the preferences of the new mom prior to buying clothing. Some moms don't want their girls doused in pink. Many mothers prefer gender neutral clothing so that the outfits can be used for future siblings.

As a consciences hostess, remember to include the name, identification number and location of any baby stores where the new mom may be registered. By including this vital information with the invitation, guests are able to collaborate and purchase a larger registry item by pooling their resources.

For the seasoned mom, unique baby gifts are a hit. The essential baby equipment is usually already at hand, so now is the time to shower the mom with adorable items. Personalized gifts are cherished by any mother; especially for her second or third child. Since baby names hanging in nurseries are such a hit, a personalized name plate could be the answer to your baby gift giving needs.

So remember, usability and style are keys when purchasing a baby shower gift.

Wedding Season Is Here - What Should I Spend On The Perfect Wedding Gift?

by Christine Steendahl

Thousands of people each year are guests at weddings and with the wedding services and receptions becoming more grandiose, many wonder what to spend on a gift for the couple. There are several things to be considered when determining what to spend on a gift. Here are some simple guidelines to follow.

The first rule when it comes to wedding gifts is ultimately what you feel comfortable giving. Having said that, there are lots of people that want to make sure they give an amount that is neither too small nor too much. One consideration when deciding what kind of wedding gift to give is the the couple getting married. With younger couples getting married for the first time, they are just starting out and would generally appreciate a monetary gift more than anything else to help pay for their wedding costs, buying their first home, help with furnishing an apartment, etc.

For other, married couples that are already established, gifts of money are less important and they would be pleased either with money or with a thoughtful gift.

Obviously a consideration when choosing the amount of a wedding gift is how close you are to the couple being wed. If you are an immediate family member or a very close friend, a monetary gift of several hundred dollars to thousands of dollars is not uncommon. It really depends on how much you can afford to give. Ultimately the couple is just happy to have those who are close to them in attendance for their special day. Of course some type of gift is common etiquette.

For others invited to the wedding, such as friends, co-workers and extended family members, you should aim to give an amount that you think is equal to the cost of inviting you to the wedding. For instance, if you think the cost to invite both you and your guest is $100 than this amount is appropriate. If you are able to give this amount plus 25% to 50% extra, your gift will be kindly received.

You may think about asking the bride and groom if they are registered somewhere, so you can pick out something they actually want, saving them the hassle of making a return after the wedding. Traditionally the couple would register for basics such china and place settings. Today couples register for a variety of items including anything from fondue sets to board games. A gift should be given from the heart. They may also be delivered to the reception. In this case family members will be responsible for seeing that the gifts are delivered to the bride and groom.

Gifts of money can be mailed to the happy couple as soon as you receive an invitation to their special day. For those giving actual gifts and not monetary gifts, the rules are typically the same.

In any event a nice card should accompany every gift, whether it be monetary or otherwise. A card can express your thoughts for the happy couple. Never underestimate the power of an exceptional card.

Choosing a wedding gift should not be difficult. The bride and groom are embarking on a new phase of their lives together. They will be pleased with whatever gift you give them.

'Thank You' Gifts For Coaches

by Pat Anderson

It goes without saying that a coach should be thanked at the end of the season. Thanking someone is important; it’s a base of our social upbringing and it shows reverence to the person we honor. The phrase is muttered everyday, from saying “thanks” to the toll booth worker to mothers around the nation saying to their child, “Now what do you say?” upon any receipt of kindness from anyone.

Yet, when it comes to the unique relationship between coach and athlete, many adults have no idea the way to go about thanking the coach properly.

First, know that the coach probably doesn’t expect much. They probably just envision that the last day that the team comes together that they will be the one thanking the team and telling the team how proud they are of them. The coach, up until the last moment, if they are a good coach, will be focused on bringing a sense of personal and group esteem and fulfillment to each participant. The coach may even be thanking the parents.

There are many personalized gifts that are very appropriate, one of such is the plaque. One can, at almost any mall or online, find a suitable, economical plaque that can be personalized with the team name, the year, the coaches name and an “in honor of” or “recognized for” exceptional coaching and so forth.

Do not discount that a card, signed by all participants would also be a great gesture. If the coach is local, and folks are aware of a hobby or interest, or preference, it is possible that a gift certificate to a local eatery, store or entertainment outlet would be welcomed.

One or two people should in the beginning of the season appoint themselves to take responsibility and meet with parents via personal meeting or telephone. At this point, an agreement of how much per person, participating families are willing to spend is gathered. From this, it is also a good idea to collect ideas on gifts for the end of season, or at least begin to think of generic ideas.

Another meeting, telephone call or email can be followed up in a couple of weeks and then again, at the end of season.

It should also be discussed on how to present the gift or gifts. One parent could open their home as an evening to celebrate the end of season, or perhaps more informally, at the end of the last team meeting, the gifts are presented at that time by players to the coach.

To summarize, thanking the coach is important and teaches the players respect and acknowledgement.

Way to support this learning would be to:

1. Gather a group to institute the end of season “thank you”

2. Decide upon a proposed amount per person for giving

3. Allow everyone to submit ideas for gift giving and narrow down the most popular or logical responses

4. Perhaps a group gift inclusive or as a stand alone, such as a plaque where the coach can display and remember the year as one of productivity and accomplishment

5. Personally signed card from all team players and/or parents for a remembrance and to give intimacy to the gift giving.

6. If money is an issue and a gift is not possible, a poster or card that is well thought out and personal is also acceptable.

In closing, the thank you need not be costly or impressive; however it should be heart felt and show respect, admiration and understanding for the time and effort, teaching and support that the coach has given during the season.

Paintball Gift Ideas for the Beginner and Experienced Paintballer

by Blair Stephens

Looking for a great gift for the Paintball enthusiast in your family? Well, fall of 2006 marked the largest debut of new products in Paintball's history. No matter what your budget; there is a hot new product to fit the bill.

Custom Products has always been known for their wide selection of 'after-market' items for many different paintball markers. This holiday season they're released their new Air Systems. They will be available in both 48 and 68ci and in high or low pressure. Prices on the air systems start around $220. They also just released 06 Ego Sling and Rake triggers as well as on/off plugs for the DM6. With prices below $30, these will make great stocking stuffers.

As anticipated, Dye rolled out their entire 2007 arsenal at this year's World Cup. They didn't disappoint with a redesigned C7 paintball clothing line, new C7 Slide Shorts, and their flagship marker the DM7. The DM7 is both smaller and lighter than last year's DM6 and now includes a lever locking clamp feed neck. The new DM7s are retailing for $1399.

Dye's daughter company, Proto, has also been hard at work. Their answer to Smart Parts low end / high performance Ion is the Proto Matrix Rail. The Rail retails at a mere $400 but includes BIG features such as anti chop eyes, a super light composite trigger frame, rate of fires in excess of 17 balls per second, and a bolt assembly that can easily be removed and cleaned from the back of the marker. It will be available in Black only through the holidays and additional colors will be available in early 2007.

Kingman and Tippmann are both battling for the entry level crowd. Tippmann's new X7 Marker is designed to be the most customizable marker ever. It has thousands of combinations possible including new barrels, barrel shrouds, stocks, mock magazines, and many other accessories to fit any user's desires. Kingman dropped their new VS line in the 3rd quarter. The VS2 and VS3 are complete revisions of the Spyder line but affordably priced. The VS2 starts at only $190 and includes high end features including low pressure operation and anti chop eyes.

Planet Eclipse completely redid their amazingly popular 06 Ego in the newly release 07 Ego. The 07 Ego isn't just a revision; it's a complete redesign of the Ego platform. The paintball marker is nearly a half pound lighter and has a new solenoid, grip frame, trigger, shaft barrel, totally revamped internals, and much more. This is the 'must have' marker for 2007. Prices start at $1250. They will begin shipping to dealers on December 8th.

This year Empire released a full line of new paintball clothing and most notably their new marker the Invert Mini. The Invert is scheduled to begin shipping December 1st and has a laundry list of features including a gas through grip frame (a first for paintball) that allows the air in your bottom line to feed directly through your grip and into the marker. No more external hoses! It is both small and light and at only $400, it offers features comparable to markers double its cost!

Smart Parts has astonished the Paintball world with a complete revamp of their product line in the last 2 years. The introduction of the Ion in 2004 was their first step into the high performance low cost market at only $285. Only 2 years later, they've released the Epiphany. The Epiphany is based off the Ion design but includes a metal body, newly redesigned trigger frame, freak barrel, fire bolt, and a new adjustable firing chamber for increased efficiency. At only $400 this will be one of the hottest sellers this holiday season. Epiphanys begin shipping December 10th.

Other notable releases include VForce's new Grillz system, Draxxus's new 30+ balls per second Pulse Loader, and DerDer's Soldiers of Misfortune DVD.

Give A Gift That Saves Lives

by Joe Ebner

An Inexpensive NOAA Weather Radio Can Give You The Time To Seek Safety.

Shortly before sunrise on November 16 an F3 tornado ripped through the tiny community of Riegelwood, NC. Within seconds 8 people were dead and 20 more were seriously injured. Among the dead were 4 children under the age of 12.

The tornado struck at a bad time. Most of the residents were still asleep or just beginning their day. There was little warning. The National Weather Service office in Wilmington, NC issued a tornado warning at 6:29 am. Eight minutes later the tornado touched down.

Severe Weather Can Strike At Any Time

Severe weather like tornadoes and thunderstorms can strike with little warning. They develop very quickly and their lifespan is relatively short. But during their brief time tornadoes bring terrible destruction, injury and loss of life. Other weather-related events like flash flooding and lightning can put many lives in jeopardy.

While we currently don't have technology to control the weather, we do have technology in place that can warn us to approaching severe weather and give us enough time to seek safety.

Weather Warnings by Radio

NOAA Weather Radio is perhaps one of the best kept secrets in the United States. Many of us are unaware that the National Weather Service operates nearly 1,000 radio transmitters throughout the country. The transmitters are in operation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week continuously streamming current weather conditions, forecasts, warnings, and other crucial weather information.

NOAA Weather Radio advises people of severe weather watches and warnings, buying extra time for people to react before dangerous storms hit their area. When you're in the path of something like a tornado, seconds can mean the difference between life and death.

However, a special kind of radio receiver is needed that is capable of receiving the alerts. Special NOAA Weather Radios are available in electronics stores, sporting goods stores, marine supply stores, and on the Web. They are inexpensive (starting at about $30.00) and programmable for a specific area. NOAA Weather Radio receivers are built to utilize the features of NOAA Weather Radio.

Each advisory, watch, or warning transmitted by NWS is preceded by a special alert tone. When the radio detects the tones transmitted by the NWS, it activates itself. Weather Radios respond to the alert tones by activating a built-in audio or visual alarm. The alarm feature is especially useful for warnings that are issued during the night when most people are asleep.

SAME Technology

The best Weather Radios use SAME (Specific Area Message Encoding)technology. SAME uses a series of digital tones that identifies the type of warning being sent and the denotes the specific geographic location the event affects. SAME allows you to filter out distant warning broadcasts and monitor only those messages intended for your local area. For example if you live in a coastal county but not right on the beach, you may not be interested in a Coastal Flood Warning.

SAME technology is also the primary trigger for activating the Emergency Alert System used by commercial radio, television and cable TV outlets.

Each county in the U.S. is assigned a 6-digit code by the NWS. This code can be easily programmed into the radio (Detailed instructions for your area are included with the radio.). Once the code is set the radio responds only to alerts issued for the area programmed. If you move, the radio can be reprogrammed for your new location.

Depending on the model you choose, further programming can be done to minimize false alarms or to include neighboring counties in your alert area. This is important for those who live near county borders.

SAME radios are available in desktop and portable models. Portable radios allow you to take the radio with you wherever you go and they can be reprogrammed to work when you're on vacation or on the road. If you work outside or participate in outdoor activities a protable unit can alert you to unknown weather dangers wherever you happen to be.

For desktop models, a battery backup feature is important. Having the option to operate independent of commercial power will keep the receiver armed and working even if the power fails.

Weather Radio has evolved over the years to broadcast non-weather emergency information making the system an 'All Hazards' network. Information of events such as chemical spills, earthquakes, and even terrorist attack are broadcast if the need arises.

While we cannot recommend any specific brand of receiver, we do recommend that the radio you consider buying comes with the Public Alert logo. The Public Alert Standard was adopted by the Consumer Electronics Association in conjunction with the National Weather Service. Radios that carry the Public Alert logo meet specific technical standards and include the features we mention here.

We have smoke detectors in our homes that alert us to fire. We have carbon monoxide detectors that alert us to potential deadly gasses from our furnaces/fireplaces/gas heaters. An NOAA Weather Radio should be included in your arsenal of weapons to safeguard against severe and deadly weather events. Early warnings of severe weather can give you just enough time to take cover.

Consider purchasing NOAA Weather Radios as gifts this holiday season. It could save the lives of those you love.

Food Gifts with Flair - Gourmet Food Gift Ideas From the Holiday Gift Lady

by Melanie Farkas

Are you bored with spiced drink mix or layered soup in a jar? Let me inspire you with some new food gift ideas! I like making treats in the kitchen because they are cheap and don't take much time shopping for. My family likes them because they taste good and are consumable - no clutter! Here are some of the themes I use for inspiration in choosing the right recipe for each person:

Family History or Country of Origin - Introduce a person to a food that originated in the place your family is from. My husband's family is from Hungary so every year they make small crescent shaped nut filled cookies called Kieflies to give as gifts. It becomes a family event as we grind the nuts, roll out dough, and sprinkle the finished cookies with sugar. Then we pack them up in boxes to send off to relatives in California and deliver them personally to nearby family and friends.

Ethnic Dinner in a Basket - Gather a variety of ethnic food items into your own gourmet food gift basket. To our family who lives in upstate New York (but is originally from the Southwest), we send enchilada sauce and our family's favorite canned salsa. Add a bag of flour tortilla mix, Spanish rice mix, and some dried beans and you have the beginnings of a fiesta.

Hobbies - Does this person you know sit around playing Japanese video games all night? Give them Japanese treats. If they go participate in Civil War Reenactments, find a historical recipe book and cook them up some hard tack for the next camp out. If they like to scrapbook, put together a basket of healthy snack foods such as spiced almonds or pecans, dried fruit, pretzel mix and homemade or gourmet mustard for them to share with friends at the next photo cropping marathon.

Favorite Food - Think of a person's favorite food and then make several varieties of it. My friend Julie likes muffins so I could make her blueberry muffin mix, apple spice muffin mix, struesel muffin mix, and cranberry orange muffin mix. My neighbor Tony likes hot stuff so he might enjoy pickled peppers, hot salsa, and my mother-in-law's famous spicy asparagus spears.

Using these ideas for inspiration, you will have fun mixing up some food gifts for this holiday season and have your family and friends asking for more of your gourmet treats. Happy Holidays!

Jewelry Gifts for Bridesmaids

by Arsene Bergkamp

Putting a wedding together involves lots of details. One of the details is what to get bridesmaids to thank them for their involvement.

Jewelry Gifts for Bridesmaids

Your wedding is one of the most important and memorable events that you'll ever plan. From choosing the date, to the theme, to your dress – there seems to be a million different details to go over. One item that is often overlooked but just as important as other aspects of your wedding is taking care of your bridal party. Choosing who will be your bridesmaids and groomsmen, what they'll wear and how they'll perform at your wedding are all necessary decisions for your wedding plans. Another thing you'll want to consider is how to thank your bridesmaids for performing the service of being in your wedding party.

Bridesmaids really do have to go through a lot to be in a wedding. They must purchase a bridesmaid dress (which can cost hundreds of dollars), matching accessories, and also pay to get their hair and makeup done. If the bridesmaids are from out of town, there is the cost of traveling to the wedding and staying at the wedding location. Finally, often times bridesmaids are responsible for planning both the bridal shower and bachelorette parties for the bride. All of these expenses and time consuming tasks can really add up, so its important to show these ladies how much they're appreciated.

Jewelry for bridesmaids can be a welcome and beautiful gift. When choosing jewelry as a gift for your bridesmaids, you have the choice of giving them something that's specifically meant to be worn at the wedding itself, or jewelry that is just meant to be a token of your friendship. Semi-precious stones, such as cultured pearls, and Swarovski crystals are moderately priced enough to be practical as gifts, but nice enough to be treasured mementos Sterling silver is a classic metal that's perfect for bracelets, necklaces and earrings, and its color can match well with all sorts of clothing styles and even bridesmaid dresses. To avoid any conflict, give all of your bridesmaids similar jewelry in style and cost. It is appropriate, however, to give your maid of honor a more expensive gift, as she is a special person in the bridal party with more responsibility.

Most brides won't spend a lot of time thinking about gifts for their wedding party, but this small gesture to your bridesmaids will definitely be appreciated. Gifts for the groomsmen are also a nice touch, but carrying out this task usually falls to the groom.

Gifts For Dog Lovers

by Robert Davis

Our passion for dogs can sometimes go to the extreme. We treat our pet like it was our own baby, not to mention the love we feel for newly born puppies. Is this just a case of 'man's best friend'? Or is it something greater?

We'll let you be the judge of that.

Dogs are just so cute that some dog owners go to the extent of calling their pets 'sweetie'. Others call their dogs their 'kids,' or 'babies.'

Dog lovers are limitless in the terms of affection they can come up with for their pets. It is even common to see pets that look like their owners, and vice versa. This is probably just another sign of our love for them.

Dogs give unconditional love to their owners. This is a characteristic of all dog breeds. A lot of dog lovers return this love in the form of dog gifts. And the selection of dog gifts appear in all shapes, varieties, and sizes.

There is a wide selections of dog gifts. There are dog baskets, dog books, dog collars, dog crates, dog clothes, food, dog accessories, medicines, vitamin supplements, just to name a few.

Dog gifts can be any dog related item, from dog toys to dog supplies and to a program in dog training. Whatever the giver can imagine.

A common misconception among gift givers is that dog gifts are gifts for pet lovers or the owners themselves. In most instances, they are not. They are for the dog. But in a way, they benefit the dog owner by saving him or her from the expenses he/she would have incurred buying the items.

Dog books are great gifts, generally given to new pet owners. Normally, they contain details pertaining to dog breeds, guidelines in taking care of dogs, nutritional details on the specific breed, methods of dog grooming, tips, and everything in between.

Dog toys may be given as gifts as well. Like children, dogs are fond of playing. In fact, quite a number of breeds are recognized for their playfulness -- some are born ball chasers.

Obviously, in giving toys as dog gifts, you must be careful not to get a toy that could potentially harm the pet. It is wise that you choose those toys that are primarily made of vinyl or latex materials.

Also, avoid those that can be torn in smaller pieces, as they may stick in the dog's throat. One toy you can get is cheap tube of balls, but they must be large enough that they won't fit into the animal's mouth. Or it can be an old sack, or better yet, the sneakers that he likes to chew.

As these examples show, you need not always buy a gift made specifically for dogs. But if you choose to, there are many dog websites that can provide you with a good selection of products. Furthermore, you can also buy from a local pet shop.

Moreover, if you cannot choose a dog gift yourself you have the option of giving the dog owner a gift certificate. This is an ideal way of giving a gift, because in this way you are giving the owner the chance to decide on the gift he thinks would be best for his pet.

Robert Davis writes for several web sites, such as http://dicez.com and http://rosuf.com.

Baby Shower Gifts - The Secrets That Make Sure Your Baby Gifts Are Unique And Stand The Test Of Time

by Qing Gu

When it comes to baby shower gifts, how much do you know about it?

Baby showers are a great distraction for mothers to be, while they wait in anticipation for their brand new little bundle of joy.

For those arranging the party, it can be a lot of fun setting up beautifully themed baby shower decorations and preparing the seating and side dishes, along with the most important part - the gift table.

While all of the preparation is going on, the guests are just as busy.

Guests have their own little mission and that is to compete with all of the other guests to find the mom and baby-to-be the coolest, most unique baby shower gifts.

Gone are the days when a few diapers, bibs, bonnets and booties were considered to be an ample gift. Although these are useful baby gifts, they are lacking in fun, uniqueness and will quickly be forgotten by the mother to be when her bundle of joy comes into the world.

So how does a guest make sure that their baby shower gifts are both remembered and treasured?

Easy, by making sure that the baby gift is useful, unique and can be used long after the baby has been born - a gift that will stand the test of time.

Personalized photo albums, wall prints that can hold the new born birth certificate or even personalized treasure boxes are great examples of new baby gifts that will keep on giving long after the diapers and booties have gone or are lost.

You may notice that all of the above baby shower gifts have one thing in common - they are personalized.

Cool baby shower gifts are those that look as though a lot of thought has gone into them which show that you really care. Not a baby shower gift that looks as though you have jumped in the car minutes before the party, gone to the mall and grabbed the first thing that looked like a baby gift, then gone out to get your hair done.

But if you shop online for the perfect gift, you can be getting your hair done as well as have the perfect gift, :-)

When choosing baby shower gifts that are unique, useful, personalized and absolutely cool, your imagination really is the limit.

So don't just look for traditional, every day, run-of-the-mill newborn baby gifts that everyone else will be purchasing and bringing along to the party. If outrageous baby gifts like diamond set pacifiers aren't your cup of tea, then why not consider getting a beautifully packaged personalized baby gift basket, overflowing with an array of different things for the baby.

Most importantly, remember to include a great greeting card, oftentimes, baby shower cards, along with newborn and birthday cards, are kept as keep sakes.

Make your card funny, personal or what ever really describes the relationship with the new baby and mom to be. Baby showers are supposed to be fun, so enjoy yourself. Baby shower gifts are supposed to be special, so make sure that your gift counts.

Make Your Own Dad Or Mom Gifts

by Kadence Buchanan

Whether their birthday is quickly approaching or Father and Mother Day are holidays you prefer to forget due to your inability to find something which can be a valuable present, a gift that you will craft yourself and will portray your own personal touch can go a long way into their hearts. Here are some easy craft ideas for those capable to open your computer and put it to work.

- Personal Music Compilation: You have heard them one thousand times. That Frank Sinatra song they were dancing last Christmas is engraved on your brain and you are catching yourself singing the lyrics every time you see a couple that resembles them crossing the street. One of the most appreciated gifts you can easily construct is that of a music CD containing all their favorite songs. You can even create the CD cover and labels on your computer and your gift can have a personal touch that will make tears fall from their eyes as they open the wrapping paper. Add a romantic photograph of them on the cover, put their theme song first and last, arrange the music according to their pleasing, and think of a good song that they do not know but will love when hearing. Improvise as much as you can and you will be glad you did.

- A Box Full of Memories: Last summer they have decided to visit Spain, but their tickets, photographs, beach shells, and museum passes have been inside a bag since then. Surprise them with a 'Box from Spain.' Arrange their favorite photographs and create on your computer a collage that will cover the sides of the box. Print and place the year and their favorite Spanish phrase, which they have been using since, on top. Place the tickets and passes on a transparency paper and glue them inside the box, organize the box according to days or places, and try to create the box you would like to receive. Give them a chance to travel back in time and smile to your ingenuity.

- A Photograph Album: The photographs they have been eager to take every summer are scattered around or placed in boxes that nobody has time to open up and see anymore. Visit your local art or bookstore and purchase a couple of albums that can host most of the pictures you know they cherish. Arrange the pictures in chronological order or just grab them from the box and place them in the album while adding your own comments or imaginary dialogues. You can also create the album yourself on your computer and bind the pages together with string and ribbon. Embellish the photograph albums with your own taste, like black and white copies of photographs and experience how it feels to have something truly valuable given to them.

- A Card Box: They are always searching those small pieces of paper with those old recipes or sports scores on them, which seem to have disappeared since you remember yourself. They are always complaining and thinking they are now really old and incompetent for not remembering where they have placed their favorite cards the last time they used them. Save them the trouble of trying to locate their 'valuable' pieces of paper and create a box which can have a title and display their favorite colors. Add some paper labels inside and give them the chance to feel organized and prepared when the time to use them again comes.

Creating the perfect gift for dad and mom is not that difficult. It needs some imagination and time to invest. We know you got both; you know it too. Good luck and happy crafting times!

Thoughtful Christmas Gifts That Won't Cost A Thing

by Ricky Alberta

We all get caught up in the material excesses of Christmas at some point. We shop for that perfect Christmas gift for that special someone, we wait in long lines, we spend a load of cash, only to find that the best gifts are the ones that don't cost a thing but are filled with thought and joy. These are the true gifts of Christmas. Here are some surefire Christmas gift ideas that won't cost you a cent but are guaranteed to please:

IOU's

These are probably the most thoughtful gifts you can give. Figure out what someone needs or wants, something that's not tangible, and write out an IOU to them on a Christmas card. Some examples:

- Your Mom would love some time alone to relax away from the baby, write an IOU for 2 hours of babysitting.

- You Dad plans to organize the garage, write an IOU for 2 hours of help with sorting out the garage.

- Your elderly neighbor could use a hand with yard work, write them an IOU for 1 hour of yard work on a future weekend.

- Your sister gets migraines a lot, write an IOU to give her some TLC during her next migraine.

- Your nephew is having trouble in math, write an IOU for 2 hours of math tutoring.

- Your friend recently moved so you don't see them anymore, write an IOU for a trip to the park or some other special place.

There are a million different things you can write an IOU for, the only limit is the limit to your imagination.

Pictures & Collages

Relatives love to receive pictures of their family. When you buy school pictures or have any other type of picture taken, you are usually left with some extras. Put the extras together in an old album and give it as a gift. You can also make a collage with your pictures, these are easy to make and thoughtful gifts.

Crafts

There are tons of crafts you can make with stuff just laying around your house. From handmade ornaments to adorned picture frames to home decorations made with pinecones, twigs and branches.

Food

Many people make cookies, candy or some other treat for Christmas. Why not make a little extra and give them as gifts? Some other excellent food gifts that won't break the bank are gift jar recipes, seasoning mixes, hot cocoa and drink mixes, spice rubs, flavored oils, flavored vinegars and pickled fruits and veggies.

Ornaments

Some of the easiest gifts to make are ornaments. Use old greeting cards, AOL cd's, pinecones, foil, candy, pictures, gift wrapping, gift boxes etc. There's a million ways you can make lovely ornaments from things found around your house.

Gift Basket

You can go all out and make a personalized, customized gift basket filled with each of these things. You might have an unused basket around the house, make sure it's clean and fill it with an IOU or two, some cookies or candies, homemade hot cocoa mix, a picture collage and some ornaments.

No matter what you give, put plenty of thought and care into it and your gift will surely mean much more to the recipient than a $200 MP3 player or $50 jeans.

Buying Christmas Gifts For Teacher

by Low Jeremy

With Christmas fast approaching, one of the people that should be in your gift list is your teacher, especially your favorite teacher. Although it may be considered tacky to give gifts to your professors as some may see it as a form of bribery; you can still give gifts as long as they are not too expensive.

It is one way of showing teachers that you appreciate the efforts that they are making in teaching you what you need to learn. Below are some gift ideas for teachers that they will surely appreciate.

1. Cake and pastries

Who doesn’t want to be given cake and pastries? This is a wonderful holiday gift especially if you are going to have it designed in festive colors and figures. Of course, before you bake the cake or before you buy one, do some research and ask around for your teacher’s favorite flavor. Does she love chocolate cake or is more partial to mocha or mango? Does she like cakes or does she prefer cookies or tarts? It is often good to do some digging. It shows that you care enough to spend time in research.

2. Fruits

Apples have long been associated with gifts for teachers. Well, you can do better than that by giving them a basket of fruits that they can take to the faculty room or to their homes. Include fruits that are not so usual to lend it a more unique feel. Make sure that the fruits are fresh and ripe.

3. Turkey, Ham and other Holiday feast

Another great gift that you can give your teachers are turkey, ham or any food that they can serve in their dinner table come Holiday. You can either roast them yourself or buy one from the corner store.

4. Greeting Cards

Even as simple as a Christmas greeting card is enough to make your teacher smile. There are cheap cards available in bookstores that you can use. If you don’t have the money to spend for ready made Holiday cards, you can always make your own greetings cards.

In fact, they will better appreciate a handmade card because they know that it is something that you spent time and effort on. Besides, it is a great way to exercise your creativity and artistry plus of course some vocabulary!

5. Chocolates

Chocolates work their magic every time. One great time to buy lots of chocolates at really low prices is after Halloween when stores organize sale of leftover candies and chocolates from Halloween Trick or Treating.

Six Perfect Gifts for Your Guy

by Janette Vince

Admit it—it can be tough shopping for guys. They’re often passionate about their likes and dislikes—and worse, if you’re like most girls, those likes and dislikes don’t exactly resemble your own. If you’re at a loss as to what to give your guy for Christmas, his birthday, or any other major gift-giving holiday, we’re here to help out. Here are six never-fail ideas to make your guy fall in love with you all over again.

A gift voucher - No, really. Guys aren’t as sensitive as women when it comes to the hidden meaning of a gift. Most women believe that if a guy gives her a gift voucher, it means he doesn’t care enough about her to really give any serious thought to what she likes. But with guys, that’s often not the case. Every man usually has an obsession he’s carried over from adolescence—whether it’s electronics, grilling, outdoor activities, sports, or games. All these obsessions have one thing in common—a preoccupation with complex, expensive equipment.

Guys are very knowledgeable about the equipment involved in their obsession, and are often very picky—try getting your golfer guy a club when you know nothing about golf, and chances are you’ll buy the wrong one. But get your golfer a generous gift voucher to a golf store, and he’ll be thrilled. Find out what your guy’s obsession is, and get him a nice big gift voucher. Believe me, he’ll be pleased.

A classy poker/grill/wine set - Whatever your man is into, chances are there’s a fancy set for it. If he likes to BBQ, get him a nice set of grill tools. If he’s a poker player, get him a poker set in a nice hardwood box. Don’t get too technical—if his obsession is fishing, for example, you’d better let him buy his own rod, unless you know a lot about fishing too. But there’s no reason not to get him a great-looking box to keep his lures in.

A hand massager - Even guys like to feel pampered. An electric hand massager can be just the thing he needs to unwind after a long day. Guys tend to like harder, faster pressure than women do—so look for a powerful massager with several settings, so he can adjust.

An exotic car experience - Every guy has a dream car. You can probably tell what your guy’s is by being observant—notice what cars he checks out when you’re out together. If you can’t tell one car from another, ask him—chances are he’ll grab the opportunity to talk about his favorite car. Surprise him by renting his dream car for a day. Let him take it to work, out with the guys, or on a quick weekend getaway with you. It’s a gift he’s sure to talk about for years.

Concert or Theatre tickets – Most men have at least one music obsession. Find out what his is, and check online to see when they are coming to your town. Even if the concert’s a long way off, go ahead and buy him the tickets — it will definitely give him something to look forward to. And if you want him to think you’re a really amazing girlfriend and you really don’t mind not going, tell him he doesn’t have to take you. He might want to take his best friend who’s also a big fan. With a selfless gesture like that, your boyfriend is sure never to forget this gift.

A magazine subscription - Does he like Windsurfing? Get him a subscription to Windsurfing Magazine. Is he into cooking? Get him Fine Cooking Magazine. Like music? A subscription to Rolling Stone should be just the thing. Want to send him a naughty message? There’s always Playboy. Other Good general choices for guys include Maxim, Arena, and GQ. Chances are he’d never think of subscribing to a magazine himself, but would love one as a surprise.

Buying your guy a gift doesn’t have to be a stressful experience. These tips ought to be all you need to get off to a great start on gift-giving, and get your guy a present he’s sure to remember and appreciate.

Giving Unforgettable Birthday Gifts

by Tzippi Moss

Big birthdays are great opportunities to get creative. Instead of buying a gift that may or may not be appreciated, you can show your love, care and appreciation in ways that will leave a lasting impression and cost little or no money.

I was recently talking to a friend of mine who had just celebrated a big birthday. He told me how people went all out on the gifts, sparing no expense. When I asked him what his favorite was, he said, 'Oh, that's easy. No contest. It was the one from my daughter. She gathered pictures of both of us and made a big collage that she then had framed. On the wood frame, she painted 'I love you' with hearts and stars. That gift made me cry. None of the other store bought ones did.'

That got me thinking. What were the best gifts I have ever received? One that immediately stands out is what my then 17 year old daughter did for me at my last birthday. She told me that I needed to give her a couple of days notice before she could give me her gift. She said that I would need to clear a few hours on my calendar and tell me what day I had chosen. That got me curious. I was sure she was planning on taking me somewhere. One morning, I told her I had cleared my calendar for the next day. The following morning, just before leaving for school, she dropped an envelope on the table. 'Happy Birthday, Mom- don't open this until after I leave. I hope you like it.'

I was surprised. What in the world could she have given me? I tore open the envelope. Inside was a page of yellow lined paper with the following message:

Dear Mom,

You have your present coming to you, but like the parties you throw for your friends, you have to work for it! That is why I am sending you on a treasure hunt! Make sure to follow instructions carefully. Your notes are small yellow or orange notes. If you have any problems, send me a SMS. Wear comfortable shoes.

Here's your first instruction. Go to….

P.S. If you had given me more advance notice, I would have had more time to prepare. Thanks a lot! :)

Oops. So much for my following her pre-gift instructions of giving her a couple of days warning. Anyway, my blooper didn’t keep her from planning an incredible tour of one of the historic areas in our city that I barely knew. I searched for notes that directed me to a hollow tree stump, to a certain sales person named Dan in a local bookstore and other hilarious instructions that entertained and taught me about hidden gems in my own home town. The different stops included historical information about what I was seeing, a coupon for a used book, and a gift certificate to buy myself some article of clothing at her favorite store, so I would stop borrowing her cool clothes.

Follow the tips below and you'll be remembered for unforgettable gifts as well.

- Give a gift that expresses your love loud and clear. My friend’s daughter’s gift stood out because of the effort she made to personalize her present and her clear message of love.

- Give an experience. My daughter’s gift scored big because she sent me on an adventure that I will never forget! The more novel or unusual the experience and the more it fits the person’s interests, the more memorable it will be.

- Give the gift of your time. Again, my daughter’s gift was a winner as it was clear how much effort she had gone to to surprise and delight me. My mother's favorite gift was a hand made book of coupons she received from her grandkids that could be redeemed for giving her a piano concert, baking cookies together and other activities where they spent time just with her.

- Know the celebrant's dreams and desires and help them come true. My husband knew how much I had wanted to go on a meditation retreat and for one of my birthdays he made all the arrangements so that could happen. I have never forgotten that present. If you can make someone's dream come true, you have given a gift beyond measure.

Personalized Gifts – Giving a Personal Touch

by Anne Harvester

It can be difficult to find the right gift for anyone. This is especially true if you don’t know them all that well. While most people appreciate the positive intention inherent in gift giving, a poorly chosen gift can leave a sour taste in ones mouth. This is why personalized gift giving is becoming very popular. Personalized gifts accentuate the most important reason behind gift giving - because you know the person. The other impetuses for gift giving, that you want to offer thanks, good wishes and make them feel good are all dramatically increased by giving personalized gifts.

There are several ways to personalize a gift each of which makes sense for particular gift giving situations. Several gift providers offer custom photo printing on variety of products from coffee mugs to shirts and more. Putting someone’s picture on a daily use or novelty item along with a message of thanks, friendship or love (depending on the nature of the relationship) helps to transform what would otherwise be a not-very-interesting-gift into something that will make the recipient think of you fondly.

There are several online and brick and mortar stores that offer good deals on professionally produced personalized gifts. One excellent way to find stores offering such products is search online using Google, Yahoo!, or MSN. By simply searching phrases like “personalized gifts” you can find a plethora of offerings to meet your needs. If you have a specific idea you can try something like “personalized coffee mug” or “personalized beach towel” to help narrow your search results.

If you are more comfortable using a local supplier you can try looking at local search results as well. Google offers an excellent local search tool known as Google Local that allows you to search for local merchants. This tool is associated with Google Maps as well so you can get directions to their location at the same time, as well as contact information.

Personalized gifts can also be a great idea for giving gifts to children. There are companies specializing in personalized children’s gifts such as personalized rocking chairs or piggy banks. Giving personalized gifts to children is a way to show the parents of the children that you’ve taken the extra time, effort and expense to create a gift specifically for their child, scoring you major points.

Through personalizing a gift with special themes, their name and/or pictures you connect the gift to the recipient much more strongly, insinuating a stronger bond and imbuing the gift with more meaning. Personalized gift giving gets a much stronger response than ordinary gifts, especially if it’s someone who you don’t know as well.
